Truth-
What we think we know is true, and what is actually “true” are both equal and distant. This blog is about the challenges of modeling the web, people, and the world around both into a state that we can measure and work against.
While individually I have experience dealing with various web properties and the individual challenges each faces, both functionally and quantitatively, the writing here is to be part of the larger challenges, which face not only myself and the properties I interact with, but everyone that deals with challenges functioning and interacting with the web.
Nothing here is “true”, but nothing here is incorrect. It is simply one vision of what is and what could be.
About me-
I currently work for CNET Networks where I manage the contextual ad delivery platform, act as a senior web analyst, and consult upwards of 90 different properties on anything from testing to site and page analysis. I have worn many hats, and worked on many different sites, but through it all, the question of what is the most efficient way to improve has always been the driving force in everything I do.
The challenges of testing on media/content rich sites, as opposed to the more classic funnel commerce sites, is that there is not one type of action to drive, but 30, and each decision changes the importance and fundamental interaction with each one. How you value them, how you value user interaction, becomes the fundamental challenge of everything you do.
It is not where you have been, or what you have done, but where you are and what you are doing to improve it that matters.
